    Get to know Stefan Pryor

As our Commerce Secretary until recently, Stefan Pryor led economic development in Rhode Island for seven and half years. He was the longest serving top commerce official in memory. He led with distinction and with vision. He helped our state navigate through the pandemic period and helped our economy reopen, resulting in one of the strongest recoveries in the entire country. Now we have a chance to elect Stefan and make him our Treasurer. Let’s keep our economy strong – through whatever challenges come our way.

Stefan Pryor is a public servant and problem solver who has spent his career creating opportunities and building economic security for people. Throughout Stefan’s professional life, he has been steadfast and taken action – even in uncertain times. Whether helping to rebuild the World Trade Center after September 11th as the President of the key Lower Manhattan redevelopment agency or supporting Rhode Island’s small businesses throughout the COVID-19 pandemic as our Commerce Secretary, Stefan Pryor has demonstrated leadership through the toughest of conditions.

As Treasurer, Stefan will work tirelessly to strengthen our pension system — securing retirement income for our valued public servants. Stefan will break down barriers in order to make banking services more accessible to middle income and low income families. Stefan will continue his advocacy for housing that Rhode Islanders can afford, will expand our school construction program, and will enable more investment in our infrastructure. Stefan will help families invest for their children’s future, helping to make college more affordable and job training more accessible. Stefan will ensure that the Treasurer’s office serves as a catalyst for the economy, continuing his unwavering support for small businesses as well as promising and growing industries – through the good times and the tough times.

Given his experience managing billions of dollars in public investments and his track record leading communities through crisis, Stefan Pryor is the Treasurer Rhode Island needs to oversee its finances and to advance its economy.
